Nigeria's economy grew by 4.43% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, accelerated by gains across both the oil and non-oil sectors.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday, GDP growth rose from 3.89% in the preceding quarter.
Oil production increased to an average of 1.72 million barrels per day in Q2, up from 1.55 million bpd in the first quarter, bolstering performance in Africa's most populous nation.
While domestic momentum continues to shield the economy from global market volatility, current growth remains well short of President Bola Tinubu’s targeted 7% annual rate by 2027.
The economic figures arrive as President Tinubu prepares to seek a second term in early 2027, with voters expected to judge his administration heavily on economic performance and security.
