Afreximbank launches new trade platforms in Zimbabwe and Malawi

Afreximbank's Africa Trade and Distribution Company (ATDC) has launched national trade and distribution platforms in Zimbabwe and Malawi to strengthen intra-African trade and regional value chains under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Established through joint ventures with CBZ Agro Yield and Press Corporation Plc, the platforms will provide commodity aggregation, warehousing, logistics, trade finance, market intelligence, and export support for SMEs and local producers.

The initiative aims to address trade finance gaps, fragmented supply chains, and limited market access that continue to constrain African businesses. According to Afreximbank's 2026 Africa Trade Report, Africa's merchandise trade reached US$1.5 trillion in 2025, while intra-African trade grew 5.5% to US$213.8 billion. ATDC plans to expand the model to seven African countries by the end of 2026, supporting industrialisation, value addition, and cross-border commerce across the continent.
